Pendulum Testing includes: -

Tests conducted with UK HSE/HSL recommended British Pendulum Test Equipments and using Floor Testing Equipments manufactured in the UK to BS 7976-1. Tests conducted in accordance with BS7976-2 (Or BS13036-4 where requested) and UKSRG Guidelines. FloorSlip also carry out Surface Roughness Testing (at no extra cost when accompanied with Pendulum Testing) and test Certificate issued.

Businesses do not always have the luxury of closing a workplace to conduct floor safety checks or may require rapid pendulum testing /surface roughness tests to complete work. We can therefore conduct tests through the evening, night or at weekends if required.

SURFACE ROUGHNESS TESTS from  £147

Surface roughness tests augment HSE approved Pendulum Test but is NOT admissible in UK courts. It is useful to monitor floor wear over time but the results are difficult to interpret and relate to how effective floors are at preventing slips; only the HSE Approved Floor Pendulum Test can effectively do that (Floor Surface Roughness Testing conducted FREE with Pendulum Tests)

Surface roughness test in engineering applications

FloorSlip can also conduct surface roughness testing for engineering applications as the equipment used is of the same accurate type achieving readings from 1 to 200 microns.

Note 1 - FloorSlip can offer split payments for Lawyers and Solicitors if requested; payment of 50% after 30 days / and 55% 3 months later. (5% is added to cover interest and admin charges).

Note 2 - The Pendulum Test cost is NOT included, normally starting from £497. However, FloorSlip can offer Expert Witness Report + Pendulum Testing at £875 (+ disbursements) - A saving of approximately £100 on the separate prices.

Note 3 - it is our experience that a court appearance is mostly not required as our reports are clear and the facts and details are transparent and the report is accompanied with high definition images. This approach making it easy for layman and courts to understand and to alleviate the need to spend extra money getting expert witnesses to attend courts.

Note 4 - On occasion, FloorSlip are requested to adjust reports after acceptance. The cost will vary from nothing for minor requests and from £47 upwards depending on the changes required

The Court Compliant Expert Witness Reports

Reports are impartial and FloorSlip are not tied / allied to a company than can influence that factor.

FloorSlip fully assess the floors and immediate area for relevant factors that could make or has made the floor / area unsafe and subsequently provide a full and formal ‘detailed’ Court Compliant (UK - CPR35 / Scottish COPFS) risk assessment floor safety report, comprehensively supported with images make it easier to envisage the slip injury locus and thereby removing the need for the slip injury lawyer or accident insurance company (for defendant or claimant) to be on site when a Pendulum Test is carried out reducing the costs of the case. The Expert Witness reports are written for use in Scottish Courts (COPFS) or UK Courts (CPR35). Whilst comprehensive for the task they are designed for parties / courts to achieve a succinctly informed judgement. The report will include (optional) ‘Options For Improvements’ where we suggest cost effective solutions to problems. We find the ‘Options’ section is welcomed by businesses and lawyers alike, where businesses are shown affordable solutions and lawyers can demonstrate to the courts that for an economical price floor slip injury accident claims might have been avoided.

SHORT FLOOR TESTING REPORTS (Non CPR35 / COPFS Compliant)  from £47

Post Testing, FloorSlip can create a short report including images, which details the floors tested, an image of the locus tested; comments on the tests at each position and a map of the test areas to make it easier for Health & Safety Managers (and Insurance personnel) to quickly assess the floor states.

This type of report are especially useful: -

a) For larger establishments with multiple floors

b) To recall what floor was tested

c) Providing statements of options of floor safety improvements (if required)

d) Include,if relevant, comments about other slip / trip related factors (building regulations, lighting, lux levels etc.)

ON SITE PENDULUM TEST EQUIPMENT TRAINING COURSES From £799

Maximum of 4 Candidates in the price quoted. Training takes approximately 4-5 hours and and is a mix of theoretical and  practical training conducted on site at your premises. Each candidate will have the opportunity to completely use the equipment in real world floor testing where accurate results will be achieved on your own floors if that is your wish saving you approximately £500 in floor testing prices

PRICES OF FLOOR SAMPLE TESTS

Smooth Floor Samples tested Wet and Dry from £147

Additional floor samples / tests for Contaminants (e.g. oil) from £35 per sample

Coarse / Rough Floors tested Wet and Dry from £227*

Floor Sample Sizes - Conducted off site at the FloorSlip premises. Floor Samples require to be a minimum of 150 mm x 150 mm (6" x 6"). Samples will not be returned unless specifically requested and P&P paid for. 24-48 Hr turnaround is possible if required.

WARNING -  DON’T TRUST LEAFLETS ON FLOOR R RATINGS AND PTV VALUES  - THEY ARE OFTEN WILDLY INACCURATE - Get floor sample testing for the Floor Slip Resistance Values before specifying or ordering your floors

*Note - There is an additional cost involved in tests of coarse / rough floors as testing of rough surfaces rapidly reduces the useful life of the (rather expensive) rubber sliders used in the test

RAMP TESTING

Ramp testing is specialised, expensive and generally not mobile. Consider instead having Pendulum Testing conducted at 20% of the cost!, which can achieve a very close similarity to the results achieved in a Ramp Test and are a fraction of the costs of Ramp Testing (maybe 10-20% of the costs).

Ramp Testing It is not supplied by FloorSlip but we can provide the names of reputable organisations offering Ramp Testing. It is typically applicable to manufacturers wishing to offer new floors to the market place with DIN Standard 'R Ratings' but is rarely applicable to everyday circumstances.

FloorSlip are agents and we are mostly able to offer prices less than buying direct from the supplier; we can supply also onsite training in Floor Pendulum Testing Equipment as well (Read More).

Manufactured to British Standards (BS 7976-1 and Calibrated to BS 7976-3), the Pendulum Test Equipment will literally last a life time (we know of machines 40 years old still in use). Supplied with a robust transporting case, tools and a 96 and 55 slider, the Pendulum Test Equipment is ready to use out of the box - Note though, do not attempt to use unless trained in the equipment - we suggest taking a supervised Pendulum Test Equipment Training Course, which will be conducted on site at your business.

ON 'YOUR' SITE HEALTH & SAFETY COURSES IN SLIPS, TRIPS & FALLS from £799

Most Health and Safety courses are rather ‘dry’ to listen to and don’t address your particular business needs if your concern is about floor safety. To change this, we come to you and conduct an ‘On Site’ Health and safety course, which specialises in slip and trips and falls prevention and includes Pendulum Floor Tests and allows you to have a go and conduct a floor test yourself!

For practicality / effectiveness, the course is normally limited to 4 attendees and lasts about 4-5 hours. It is suggested selecting persons for the course who can influence change and attitudes like Owners, H&S Managers, Store managers etc. and obviously those persons who will be using the test equipment

We believe the price we charge is remarkably affordable (and about 25% of the cost of 'Government' organisations offering similar services and particularly considering there is FREE pendulum testing included saving you £500 (on a limited number of floors). You also save on staff time out,  hotels, travel expenses etc, by conducting the H&S Course on slip & trips on your own sites
